Microchipping

Microchipping is a requirement by the NSW Government. In NSW, all cats and dogs (other than those exempt) must be microchipped by 12 weeks of age or before being sold or given away, whichever happens first.

The benefit is microchipping provides peace of mind as it is the most effective way to help ensure your pet can be returned to you if it becomes lost.

The process for micro-chipping:

  1. Book an appointment;
  2. Your pet will be microchipped by a trained vet or nurse. We will load the microchip number to NSW Pet Registry (this will appear within 3 days)
  3. Once microchipped, it is required by the client to claim and register their pet on the Pet NSW Registry. This can be found here. It is a Government requirement that registration is completed by 6 months of age.
    1. Please note registration is an important step. Without this step, you will be unable to identify your pet if they go missing.
  4. If you move addresses or change your contact details, make sure you update your pet’s information on the pet registry.

Government penalties may apply for failing to register your animal.
