Ophthalmology

Ophthalmology is the care of eyes. It requires specific equipment or diagnostics tools, such as an ophthalmoscope, tonometer or fluorescein dye.

Many eye conditions can be treated medically. However, specific conditions may require surgery. Our veterinarians will be able to advise you on the best plan for your pet's condition.

Our practice is fully equipped to offer the following consultations and eye surgeries:

  • Identify a damaged cornea
  • Check eye pressure for the condition of Glaucoma
  • Enucleation, ie the removal of the eye for medical reasons
  • Entropion surgery to prevent eye damage from inward pointing eye lashes/eyelids
  • Ectropion surgery to correct outward facing lower eyelids
  • Eyelid tumour removal
  • Cherry eye surgery to correct a protruding third eyelid in dogs
  • Procedures to repair corneal ulcers (ulcers on the eye surface)

Above and beyond our services, we are partnered with Dr Kathleen Graham (This Vet Veterinary Services) an experienced eye vet to whom we can provide a referral if required. Below is an overview of some of the services Dr Kathleen Graham provides:
